Synopsis:

Charlie is a "gutter boy" also often called a "sewer rat" moving from gang to gang to keep all the young homeless boys from discovering her secret. Charlie isn't a boy, she is Charlotte and very much a girl. A secret she guards almost as well as the secret of how the night she was kicked out of her home was because she accidentally raised her mother from the dead. Putting her father to fear that she forbid her from ever coming back home. After 5 years of staying away from the dead, she found herself once again in a terrible position to call on the dead and so the search for her began. Because who wanted want in their arsenal of weapons someone so powerful that they can call up the dead and bid them to do whatever they want. Charlie is in far more trouble then she can imagine. And this is just the beginning of her tale!
What a fun story! I do love a good paranorm story, I say that just about every single time I read one, and this one did not disappoint. I love the character Charlie, I do struggle to see her as an 18 year old girl as the author has written her character so well, I struggle not to think of her as a 13 year old boy. Of course things always change as a story goes on! I love the mystery behind the Lincoln and the secret organization that seeks out the supernatural. I did notice this book appears to be the first in the series and I look forward to seeing more of this series and more of Charlie's/Charlotte's story.

Under her other name of Carolyn Scott, she has published contemporary short stories in women’s magazines, and she also writes romantic mystery novels under this name.She has at various times worked as a librarian, IT support person and technical writer but in her heart has always been a fiction writer.
